INDEPENDENCE AND INTERNAL CONTROLS

Black Child Development Institute of Greensboro, Inc. (BCDI-G) is an independent nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization with its own Board of Directors, bylaws, finances, and programs. While our name reflects our affiliation as a charter member of the National Black Child Development Institute (NBCDI), we are a separate legal entity and do not share funds, accounts, or governance with other BCDI-named organizations in North Carolina or elsewhere.

Our Independence

• Incorporated as a stand-alone 501(c)(3) nonprofit (EIN: 56-1524964).
• Governed by a local, independent Board of Directors with fiduciary oversight.
• Maintains its own bank accounts, audits, tax filings, and financial systems.
• Programs, staff, and funding are managed solely by BCDI-Greensboro.

Our Internal Controls

• Annual independent audit and financial review.
• Dual-signature or approval thresholds for all major disbursements.
• Monthly financial reporting and review by the Finance Committee and Board.
• Written policies in place: Conflict of Interest, Whistleblower, Financial Controls, and Document Retention.
• Regular reconciliation of accounts and segregation of fiscal duties.
